DHS Department of Choral Arts
The Duluth choirs have a long tradition of excellence in the state of Georgia and abroad. They have performed throughout metropolitan Atlanta, New York City, New York; Nashville, Tennessee; Disney World, Orlando, Florida; and The Grand Bahama Islands as well as six international concert tours throughout Europe. Each year the choirs participate in the Georgia Music Educator’s Association State Large Group Performance Evaluation where they consistently receive the top ratings of “Superior”. Duluth is also very well represented in the GMEA All-State Choirs, Honors Choruses and GHSA Music Literary events yearly.

Notes from the Director

Welcome to the choral program at Duluth High School! I am thrilled that you have become a part of the tradition of choral excellence here at Duluth. If this is your first experience with our program, we encourage you to be involved in every aspect of the chorus family. If you are a continuing student, we welcome you to another exciting year of great music, great friends and musical growth!

Choral music is much more than notes on a page and great choral programs teach much more than just reproducing notes. Family, beauty, discipline, teamwork, excellence, responsibility, and pride are all part of a fine choral program. At DHS we strive to incorporate all of these aspects into what we do. However, we cannot do it without you. I encourage each of you to get involved in the program as much as your schedule allows. From Honor Choirs, to All-State and more, make this year the year that you step out and take chances. You will not regret it in the long-run and we will be here to encourage you every step of the way! Be sure to read the entire handbook and return the signed handbook form back to Mr. Smith. There are MANY changes for the 08/09 year. I look forward to this exciting year with you in the DHS Department of Choral Arts!!!!

Sincerely,
Mr. Smith
