DHS Department of Choral Arts
The Duluth choirs have a long tradition of excellence in the state of Georgia and abroad. They have performed throughout metropolitan Atlanta, New York City, New York; Nashville, Tennessee; Disney World, Orlando, Florida; and The Grand Bahama Islands as well as six international concert tours throughout Europe. Each year the choirs participate in the Georgia Music Educator’s Association State Large Group Performance Evaluation where they consistently receive the top ratings of “Superior”. Duluth is also very well represented in the GMEA All-State Choirs, Honors Choruses and GHSA Music Literary events yearly.

Outfit Information

Ladies: Black formal length, machine washable gown purchased through the DHS Choral Department. Black closed toe FORMAL shoes (preferably flats or character shoes) and hair up for ALL Concerts. No extraneous jewelry. Used dresses if we have one your size. Dress should be hemmed to hang 1” above the floor while wearing dress shoes. You may wear your own pearls if you like as long as they are the same length, color and size as the pearls we distribute through the chorus. If in doubt, bring the pearls to Mr. Smith well in advance of a concert.

Men: Full tux with black FORMAL shoes and black socks. Tux may be purchased from Formal Fashions in the Gwinnett Place Mall or any other suitable store provided they match the current tux. Ask Mr. Smith if unsure about this.

NOTE: Every effort is made to keep costs a low as possible. These outfits and T-shirts will be used as many years as is feasibly possible. The Chorus Department will offer to purchase your formal outfit back from you at the end of your senior year for a reduced cost in order to benefit students that would like to save money on a used outfit the following year. Outfits will not be purchased from underclassmen.

IMPORTANT! Get your outfits together now! Don’t wait until the last moment.

*Section leaders will be responsible for checking outfits at all concerts and reporting the results to Mr. Smith the following day.
