DHS Department of Choral Arts
The Duluth choirs have a long tradition of excellence in the state of Georgia and abroad. They have performed throughout metropolitan Atlanta, New York City, New York; Nashville, Tennessee; Disney World, Orlando, Florida; and The Grand Bahama Islands as well as six international concert tours throughout Europe. Each year the choirs participate in the Georgia Music Educator’s Association State Large Group Performance Evaluation where they consistently receive the top ratings of “Superior”. Duluth is also very well represented in the GMEA All-State Choirs, Honors Choruses and GHSA Music Literary events yearly.

DCBA or “Duluth Choral Boosters Association”
YOU are crucial to our success! DCBA consists of any parent or guardian of a Duluth choral member. We are a busy organization that assists with fundraisers, lock-in, concerts, banquet, Peach Jam and much more. Our Choral Boosters Association is an invaluable factor in determining what activities we are able to offer to our students and YOUR opportunity to be involved with your students and our program. Simply put, without parental help, the program could not offer the amazing opportunities for our children that make this program so special.

The role of DCBA is to support and provide interface with and between students, their officers, the parents, the choral director and the Gwinnett County Public Schools. DCBA is a support organization to help lessen the tremendous job of running a busy choral program like ours and in no way is to become an additional burden to the choral director. Ours is a role of support only and is not a decision making body concerning the running of the choral department at DHS. DCBA members are also encouraged to become patrons through our “Friends of Choral Music” program.

Financial Contribution
The student dues are $75 per year or $45 each semester. These funds are our operating funds and are absolutely essential to the program. Dues are used to purchase music, supplies, awards, fund scholarships, banquet, printing, GMEA festival fees, special functions and much more. The music costs for a single concert can run over $3,000 not including costs for an accompanist, facilities expenses, etc… Money received from the high school cover less than 5% of the budget needed to run the DHS choral program. The rest of the funds come directly from these dues. In short, it is absolutely essential that every student contribute their dues either through direct payment or through fundraising. Parents are invited to view the DCBA financial statement at any time by contacting the Booster treasurer. For more detail, please see the DCBA Student Financial Form on the forms link of this website. Student's fund-raising accounts are NOT active until the dues are paid for the year. Students who do not pay dues have the option of buying their chorus letters and graduation cords. No awards or scholarships, however, will be funded for students not contributing chorus dues.
